Back in the piano/crane business again this week as another piano needs to be lifted from ground floor to an upper balcony. This time it is a grand piano around 6 feet in length but a more straight forward job as we can have the piano removed from its current location and brought to the lifting point without to much difficulty. I called to look at the new proposed location and quickly discovered that the internal stairs were not an option as the turn after the first flight is much to tight to turn a piano of that size.
So this time the piano can be lifted quite simply up on to the large balcony and then wheeled in to the apartment and stood back up on its legs. Although there is a fair amount of pedestrian and car traffic in the area it should be a fairly quick operation without too much interference for anyone passing by. These types of moving requests add a bit of excitement to the job and provide entertainment for anyone watching from the sidelines. It now seems that we are getting more requests and enquiries about these special and unusual piano transport and installation jobs due to our experience and expertise. Should be sorted soon and I will have some photos of the lift.
